Taking care of our own

Taking care of our own

"If we can take better care of the operators in the full profile of the identified categories, they can concentrate better on work, last longer in full work commitment with the least possible impact on their physical and mental health. The aim is that, once they have completed their service, they will be funcional members of civil society and will continue to pass on the ideas and values that they have acquired during their service," the psychologist of the 5th Special Forces Regiment comments on the professional activity in Belgium.

On Thursday and Friday, 3rd and 4th November 2022, a meeting of psychology experts from the Special Operations Forces (SOF) of the European Union and the United States of America was held in Chièvres, Belgium. The main subject of the meeting was "Human performance trainer analysis".

The main subject included the analysis of the courses aimed to increase the mental and physical ability to resist the pitfalls that are the part of the SOF operator life. One of the sub-subjets related to naming five categories when working with an operator, four of which relate to the mind and thinking of the operator and one to physical readiness. These four categories are: cognitive dimension, psychological area, family and social background, spiritual dimension. The Slovak SOF was represented by the 51st Training base leading NCO and the psychologist of the 5th Special Forces Regiment.
